CARLING KNOCKOUT CHALLENGE GETS UNDERWAY

The 2024 edition of the Carling Black Label Knockout Challenge (Carling Cup) was officially launched on Tuesday afternoon at The Galleria in Sandton. The venue was a hive of activity with members of the media, Betway Premiership clubs’ representatives and supporters in attendance.

The tournament which is in its second season saw the sixteen teams competing in the league drawn against each other. The teams that finished in the top eight in the previous season were seeded while the other eight were unseeded for the draw.

Defending champions Stellenbosch FC will begin their title defence against AmaZulu. The final of this year’s Carling Knockout will be held at the Orlando Stadium on the 21st of December 2024.

Kaizer Chiefs who are hoping to end their nine-season trophy drought will square off against SuperSport United who have not had a great start to the season. Glamour Boys new head coach Nasreddine Nabi would be eyeing this trophy and seeing it as an opportunity to win some silverware for the club and please the Amakhosi faithfuls who have been waiting for some piece of silverware.

Orlando Pirates who are still on a high after winning their fifth silverware in six seasons will face newly promoted Magesi FC in their opening clash, while seven-time successive league champions Mamelodi Sundowns will be at home when they clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
